MBI Goes On Site to Clean Up Areas Hit by Freak Storm

A freak storm had severely damaged a number of houses around Ipoh early evening yesterday. However, no casualty was reported.

During the incident, a few video recordings shared by the residents involved on social media went viral especially those at Kampung Tawas. One of the videos, nine seconds long, depicted the roof tiles being blown off the premises.

This early morning, the Ipoh City Council (MBI) under the City Services Division has gone on site in the effort to clean up fallen trees, especially those blocking traffic, as well as parts of houses which were blown off by the storm.

According to statement from the nearby residents, the overall total number of affected houses is 219 homes, making up the area of Desa Seri Chepor (30 houses); Kampung Tawas and Kampung Tasek Damai (49 houses); Klebang (30 houses) and Taman Desa Impian (110 houses).

Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the state fire and rescue department yesterday stated that the department received a call on the incident occurring around Taman Tasek Damai and Kampung Tawas at 6.40pm.
