State Government Ensures Welfare of Students from Poor Families

A total of 3,100 eligible students from poor families received schooling assistance via the Seronok Ke Sekolah Tahun 2022 Programme with an allocation of RM465,000.

The programme was aimed to reduce the burdens of underprivileged families in preparing school supplies for the upcoming school session.

Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said that this was the second time such a programme was held as it is really effective in helping the needy.

According to him, the number of recipients and total allocation for last year was similar.

“The state government works with the Social Welfare Department (JKM) to identify eligible recipients for each state constituency.

“To date, 44 state constituencies have completed the presentation of aid.”

He said so in his speech during the programme and the launch of the new office of the Perak State Women and Community Development Secretariat (Wanita Perak).

Present was Executive Councillor for Women Development, Family and Community Welfare, Datuk Dr Wan Norashikin Wan Noordin.

Recipients were given school uniforms, shoes, socks and bags.

Menteri Besar also added that the launch of the new office of Wanita Perak can further facilitate the role of the organisation.

He stated that Wanita Perak is an institution dedicated to handle issues related to women development, community welfare and social wellbeing as a whole.

“Wanita Perak’s establishment was approved by the state government on 1 January 2021 and has six core focuses, namely Women in Leadership, Women in Defence, Women in Entrepreneurship, Women in Humanity, Women in Healthcare and Sustainable Community.

“The official office of Wanita Perak is ready to be occupied after renovation and repair works done by the state Public Works Department (JKR).

“Thus, members of the public and non-governmental organisations (NGO) who need advice, information or others can visit here,” he said.
