According to Health Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar via a Twitter post, it is found that there are still many senior citizens of age 60 and above who have not obtained the booster shots.
“A total of 864,450 senior citizens aged 60 and above have yet to receive booster shots. Death cases are currently mostly concentrated in that category, especially among those unboosted.
“In this transition phase, we should protect the high risk groups like our elderly. Get them boosted.”
The minister also shared an infographic on the death rate due to COVID-19 as the group recorded the highest number for the past 12 weeks.
He also advised members of the public to continue to stay vigilant during this transition phase.
“Wearing a face mask properly, especially in a closed space, and good ventilation are vital in the fight against COVID-19.”
