The latest announcement on the standard operating procedure (SOP) for the wearing of face masks will be made this week.
Health Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar said his party will announce the easing of the SOP compliance and enforcement in line with the country’s success in controlling the COVID-19 pandemic.
Previously, there were rumours claiming that the government would ease the SOP on mask-wearing in view of the current transition to endemic phase.
However, through the comments by netizens on social media, many hoped for the mask-wearing practice to be retained. In fact, many wished to continue to put on face masks due to worries of a COVID-19 outbreak.
