Perak MATTA Fair Receives Overwhelming Response

The Chairperson of the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Perak, Chong Yu Ken stated that the two-day Perak MATTA Fair from May 21 to 22 at the Ipoh International Convention Centre (IICC) received overwhelming response from the public.

“When the pandemic hit, all forms of exhibitions had to be postponed due to the Movement Control Order. However, after the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture started the travel bubble programme in September last year, the tourism activities began to revive.

“Following that, Perak MATTA decided to hold a two-day exhibition as the last one was organised in September 2019.

“The Perak MATTA Fair provides opportunities for members of the public to obtain various attractive packages and lucky draw prizes,” he said in a media statement.

According to him, more than 30 tourism operators took part and 70 stalls were allocated at the 29th MATTA Fair.

The fair also saw the participation from MATTA Kedah/Perlis, Tourism Malaysia Northern Region, Tourism Perak and Tourism Melaka.

“There are many choices of tourism destinations covering various cultures and heritage.

“Royal Caribbean is the main sponsor of the exhibition and it opens up opportunities for visitors to obtain its cruise packages. Via this fair, we target to receive 15,000 visitors and hope to obtain more than RM30 million in sales revenue.

“Although the standard operating procedures have been eased, only visitors who have completed vaccination and are wearing face masks are allowed. Young children are not encouraged to be present at the fair.

Those with a minimum purchase of RM300 were eligible to participate in a lucky draw with attractive prizes such as flight tickets, cruise vouchers, holiday packages, accommodation vouchers and theme park tickets.

Meanwhile, the Business Development Manager of Royal Caribbean Cruise Asia Pacific, Valerie Tan stated that Royal Caribbean operates the biggest and most innovative cruise ship in Asia named the Spectrum of the Seas.

“For more information on the cruise to Thailand, Singapore and Vietnam which begins in October from as low as RM909, visit the Facebook page of MATTA Fair (www.facebook.com/MattaPerak/).
