Playing on home ground, the hockey team of the Ipoh City Council (MBI) became champion of the hockey event of MALA Sports Tournament after winning against Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) with a score of 3-1.
The game which was held at the Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey Stadium last night also saw MBI defending the title at the sports tournament between local authorities in Malaysia (MALA 2022).
MBI brought home a cash prize of RM2,000, medals and trophy among others.
A total of 77 players and team managers of the MBI are participating in three events (football, darts and hockey) in the first phase of the tournament for 3 days since its officiating ceremony on Friday.
During the hockey match, the goals were contributed by Abdul Rauf Mohd Nazri in the 2nd and 26th minute followed by Mohamad Arif Roslan in the 29th minute.
Meanwhile, the Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) obtained third place after winning against Kuantan City Council with a score of 2-0.
