Smart Paints Investment to Create New Jobs and Boost Economy

The groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a new factory for Smart Paints Manufacturing Sdn. Bhd. was completed yesterday at the Bemban Industrial Estate.

The development of this project has been coordinated by InvestPerak and will be developed in two phases with an estimated total investment of RM100 million.

InvestPerak in a statement said that the first phase, worth RM50 million, is the construction of a new facility with an area of 37,000 square meters and is expected to create 200 job opportunities.

According to the statement, the facility is for the production of between 20 to 24 million cubic liters of paint per year.

“The combination of production here with the existing facilities in Johor will increase the demand of the paint by about 10 percent.

“The construction of this new facility is also in line with Smart Paints’ vision to be one of the top three paint producing companies in Malaysia.

The State Government greatly appreciates the efforts and intentions of the companies to develop their new factories in the state.

The company will also utilize the raw material resources of limestone and calcium carbonate that are abundant in the state of Perak in the production of the final products.

A concerted effort between InvestPerak, MITI, MIDA, UPEN, NCIA and PTG will be mobilized to identify potential investors in the mineral industry sector.
