Lorong Seni @ Lorong Panglima is a New Attraction for Visitors to Perak
The launching of Lorong Seni@Lorong Panglima here today is an extension and will complement Concubine Lane, which will not just attract more visitors to the city of Ipoh in particular and Perak in general, but also give entrepreneurs the opportunity to showcase their artistic and handicraft talents.
Not only is it lively with rows of traders and products for sale, this lane also features handicraft exhibitions including musical instruments of various races.
Executive Councillor for Housing, Local Government and Tourism, Dato’ Nolee Ashilin binti Dato’ Mohammed Radzi said it was in line with the rebranding of Ipoh as a city of art.
“Among the activities highlighted are exhibitions, sales of art products, traditional and modern handicrafts including musical instruments from various races and performances from buskers.
“All the guests present have agreed to the proposal of the Art Lane, it will operate every Saturday from 8am to 1pm,” she said.
Also present were the Mayor of Ipoh, Dato’ Rumaizi Baharin @ Md Daud and MBI Council Members.
Meanwhile, Rumaizi said the selection of traders there is through arts and crafts associations, as well as those registered under MBI.
“Those who are interested can apply with MBI to do business here, as appropriate.
“Right now we are starting with 10 dealers first, to see how the response is. After that we will add as appropriate,” he said.
