53rd Ipoh Car Free Day: Fun and Informative!

The Ipoh City Council (MBI) will continue to run the Ipoh Car Free Day programme in an effort to make Ipoh a Low Carbon City by 2030.

The Mayor of Ipoh, Dato’ Rumaizi Baharin @ Md Daud said that in line with the slogan “Cleaner, Greener & Smart Lifestyle”, they aim to increase awareness among the city’s citizens about the importance of environmental protection by adopting a green and low-carbon lifestyle.

“Car Free Day, which is organised once a month, creates the right momentum for the community to maintain a healthy living environment and reduce air pollution.

“We are targeting 1000 visitors from various walks of life and this proves that the spirit of the Malaysian Family in our country is getting closer without the boundaries of race and religion”, he told Ipoh Echo after completing the ‘Flag Off’ of the Malaysian Family Cycling Programme which was attended by more than 200 participants.

Meanwhile, MBI City Planning Director, Zainal Abdul Hamid said the 53rd Ipoh Car Free Day programme was also attended by various agencies and NGOs such as Kelab Sepeda Klasik Kinta, OneXOX, Teatime Malaysia, JKM, Bubble Giant, Persatuan Daybreak, NASAM and Perak State Insolvency Department.

“We welcome participation from any NGO to participate in this programme in the future. Participation must highlight products or information related to low carbon and green technology in line with the original goals of the programme.

“We provide a space of 1.5 kilometres for everyone’s comfort in carrying out various group and individual activities.

“NGOs who want to participate in this Ipoh Car Free Day can register through MBI’s official social media site or through existing Ipoh Car Free Day groups”, he said.
