Kampung Baru Jelapang To Receive New Landmark

The Jelapang area will soon have a new landmark when a sign indicating the location of Kampung Baru Jelapang is built.

This sign will make it easier for outside visitors, especially the Chinese community who go there for the first time, to find Chinese food shops.

This is because Jelapang is one of the popular dining locations for Chinese visitors to Ipoh, in addition to the attraction of its green surroundings.

Jelapang State Assembly member Cheah Pou Hian said the construction of the sign was also as he promised in the 14th General Election (GE14).

He said he was very happy when the matter finally came to fruition despite facing some difficulties before.

“Through the cooperation and assistance of the parties involved, including the residents, the installation of the signs at a cost of RM13,000 can be implemented.

“The selection of the design of the signboard will be decided through an online vote so that residents can have a say,” he said.

He said this after the groundbreaking ceremony for the installation of Kampung Baru Jelapang Signs yesterday.

The location of Kampung Baru Jelapang is also one of the main routes to the SUK Building connecting the urban areas of Meru Jaya and Ipoh.

Pou Hian also hopes that the installation of the sign will be able to bring a sense of belonging to the people of Jelapang.

“When this road landmark is completed next November, people passing through Jelapang will be able to see and know that this location is called Kampung Baru Jelapang,” he said.

Also present was the Perak State DAP Chairman, Nga Kor Ming.
