Corpse Found Matches With Missing Person Case

The corpse found near Jalan Besar Tambun in Ipoh yesterday is suspected to be related to a missing persons case.

According to Perak Police Chief, Datuk Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri, his party found a match to a missing person case, after a review was made regarding the discovery of the body.

“I have established a special team to continue the investigation more deeply, after we get a report from the forensics regarding the cause of death.

“There is a missing person case match, we have also checked the records of the missing person system and found that there is a ‘match’ with one missing person case,” he said.

He said this at a press conference after completing the Inauguration Ceremony of the Perak PDRM Amanita Rescue Park at Tapak Pekan Rabu Langkap on Thursday.

Meanwhile, when asked if the body was killed in a different location before being dumped in the area, Mohd Yusri did not rule out the possibility.

“The possibility is there, however the investigation is still ongoing for us to identify the cause of death, why the person was killed and where the person was actually killed.

“It is true that it is believed that the person had died more than two weeks; whether the person is a local or not is still under investigation by the police,” he added.

On Wednesday, the media reported that the autopsy results of the corpse found, showed that the cause of death was strangulation.

Mohd Yusri said in connection with that, the case in question has been reclassified as a murder case and investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
