By Rosli Mansor

The Prime Minister, Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, announced a public holiday on November 18 and 19 to make it easier for Malaysian families to fulfil their respective responsibilities to vote in the 15th General Election (GE15).

The announcement of the two-day public holiday was made following the possibility of private companies operating on Saturday.

Meanwhile, to make it easier for returning voters to vote, free tolls for 30 Highway concessions are offered for two days to users in conjunction with the 15th General Election (GE15) which will take place on 19 November.

“The free toll starts from 12.01am on November 18 (Friday) until 11.59pm on Saturday, November 19, involving all Class 1 private vehicles only which is estimated to be around 90 percent of the total number of vehicles on the highway.

“The financial implications of this initiative will be fully absorbed by the highway concession companies as one of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, with an estimated cost of RM34.5 million,” he said at the groundbreaking ceremony for the CUEPAC building here today.

Ismail Sabri Yaakob also announced that the salary payment date for civil servants will start on November 17 and for retirees, pension payments will be on this day.
