MyBHA wants the new government to be more attentive and efficient

by Rosli Mansor

The Malaysian Budget & Business Hotel Association (MyBHA) hopes that the political scene after the 15th General Election (GE15) will be able to create a stable government with integrity.

The president of MyBHA, Dr. Sri Ganesh Michiel said the establishment of a sustainable government can ensure that the recovery of the hotel and tourism industry will be restored properly and quickly.

“The current political situation and the less stable government will have an impact on the hotel and tourism industry in the gradual recovery process.

“We hope that the new government will be more attentive and efficient in solving the threats to the hospitality industry and will be able to introduce a bill to regulate Short-Term Residential Accommodation and all types of online travel agencies.

“This matter failed to be implemented by the previous government and we expect the new government to be able to recover the taxes that have been lost as well as the leakage of revenue caused by the threats of the industry,” he said in a media statement yesterday.

According to Ganesh Michiel, MyBHA is responsible for representing and assisting licensed and registered budget hotels in Malaysia by highlighting the problems faced by its members.

“All problems will be presented to the relevant responsible parties to improve the image of the budget hotel industry under three stars and further ensure the country’s tourism industry runs smoothly,” he said.
