After a long wait, the electric bus has safely arrived in Taiping and will be operating by the beginning of next year at the latest.

The bus, which has a capacity of 22 seats and one seat for the disabled (OKU), uses electricity to ensure environmental sustainability and a clean city.

This vehicle uses fully electric power and was donated by the Japanese government through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The Chairman of the Taiping Municipal Council (MPT), Khairul Amir Mohamad Zubir said it will be used as a special tourist bus for the 11.5 kilometre Heritage Trail loop.

“The electric bus service will be scheduled to operate for tourists by the beginning of next year at the latest,” he said in a statement.
