Rain tree fell, but efforts will be made to save it

By Rosli Mansor

A 137-year-old rain tree that had fallen before was found to be healthy and has a relatively good canopy structure.

The Chairman of the Taiping Municipal Council (MPT), Khairul Amir Mohamad Zubir said, the tree with inventory number MPT/BL/TTT/TK/2020/00064 at Raintree Walk, Taman Tasik Taiping had fallen on 5 November 2022.

“Based on the report of Certified Arborists (CA), the main cause of the tree falling is the structural imbalance of the tree that had been tilted.

“This is compounded by land subsidence due to the high water level from the lake and that it was slowly receding due to continuous rain for three to four days,” he said.

Accordingly, efforts to save trees have been made by taking the example of preservation and conservation methods that have been done on trees that have fallen before.

This is because the public can already accept the concept of tree restoration  to enjoy healthy trees that still have aesthetic characteristics and artistic value.
