Perak: Malaysia’s featured destination at MATTA Fair 2023

The 52nd Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Fair this March 15th – 17th is set to hit a new record as the largest international travel fair in this region with more than 210 participating organisations.

Perak is Malaysia’s featured domestic tourism destination this year.

Tourism Perak will showcase their ’12 Icons of Perak’ as a collection of breath-taking natural features, grand vistas, and famous spots that visitors must not miss out on.

The 12 icons or destinations that will be promoted include seven waterfalls (Lata) in Selama, Royal Belum Rainforest, Matang Mangrove, Geopark Lembah Kinta and Lenggong, Taiping Zoo and Night Safari, Menara Condong Teluk Intan and more. In addition to this, hidden gems such as nature attractions, heritage, culture, and local food will also be showcased.

Tourism Perak Chief Operation Officer Zuraida Md Taib said at the recent press conference ‘the participation of Perak this time around is considered one of the preparations by the state of Perak to celebrate the Visit Perak Year 2024. “Some of the products that will be available at the fair are Bukit Merah Laketown resort, The Haven, Pulau Bangau in Teluk Intan, Tasik Cermin, Cengkerik Eco Park and many more’.

Zuraida added that this will further strengthen the Visit Ipoh Year 2023 by providing a promotion and marketing platform to approximately 95 players in the tourism industry in Perak.

She said the uniqueness and specialties found in the state of Perak will be highlighted through the promotion of handicraft products, food, small and medium industry products, art and culture, as well as tourism products and others.

Visitors to the Fair can look forward to several exciting activities such as sharing sessions, cultural shows, tourism quizzes and meet and greet with Perak’s tourism mascot, the Malayan Tapir called “Kopiro” (a combination of Kopi o’ and Tapir)

Admission to the fair is free, and the event is open -10am to 9pm (March 15th  – 17th ) Friday to Sunday at Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) @ KL Metropolis, 8, Jalan Dutamas 2, Segambut, 50480 Kuala Lumpur.

Visitors are encouraged to use public transport such as LRT as a free shuttle service will be provided, with designated pick-up and drop-off points within MITEC’s vicinity like Sunway Putra Mall and KL Sentral.
