The government donated RM189,000 for art activities in Perak

A ​​total of 27 art associations received RM189,000 in Non-Government Management Assistance Funds from the Perak state government.

Director of the Perak State Arts and Culture Department (JKKN), Abdul Rashid Abdullah said that the donation received would give an injection of enthusiasm in encouraging all associations to be active in uplifting the arts and culture of the state of Perak.

“The Perak State Cultural Council (MKN Perak) has held a committee meeting with affiliated associations and several art activities have also been planned throughout the year.

“Among the planned programmes are, the Perak State Artist Award will be held in May 2023. It aims to recognise the services of artists in this state.

“The theatre titled Sungai Manik Berdarah will be staged in July 2023. This theatre is adapted from the book titled Sungai Manik Berdarah by Dr Zabidin Ismail,” he said, who is also Honorary Secretary of MKN Perak.

Also present was the Deputy Chairman of MKN Perak, Mohd Yusop Othman.

In addition, Abdul Rashid added, several regional cultural programme plans will be brought to Ipoh in conjunction with the promotion of cultural arts in June and October 2023.

The affiliated associations each received RM7,000 from the Chairman of the Industrial Tourism, Investment and Corridor Development Committee who is also Chairman of the Perak MKN, YB Loh Sze Yee at the Perak JKKN, yesterday.
