IPOH – The cooking of and distribution of bubur lambuk (a one-pot porridge) programme, which involves all races, can further strengthen unity among the local community.

Although it is a programme during the month of Ramadan that is synonymous with Muslims, other religious communities can also participate in the programme.

Member of the Jelapang State Assembly, Cheah Pou Hian said, it is also a good way for the community to get to know each other’s culture.

“Every year, when days of significance come, all the people from various races, religions and cultures can celebrate them together.

“This is what has further strengthened the spirit of unity, harmony and goodwill between our people who are made up of various races, religions and cultures,” he said.

He was participating in a bubur lambuk cooking programme organised by the Puncak Jelapang Rukun Tetangga Club (KRT) last Sunday.

A total of 1,500 containers of bubur lambuk were distributed to the public and local residents.

According to him, the porridge was ready to be cooked at about 12 noon before the residents packed them for distribution at 3 pm.
