The Malaysian Ministry of Education (MoE) has examined the proposal to return the school academic calendar to January as before.

Through a KPM media statement, the research also looked at the appropriateness of preparing an academic calendar for the next year to ensure that teaching and learning can be carried out optimally.

“The MoE’s consideration is based on the Education (Terms, Days and School Holidays) Regulations 1998 which stipulate that the number of school days in the academic calendar should not be less than one hundred and ninety (190) days.

“Accordingly, the Ministry of Education and Culture will align the public examination schedule to be in line with the changes in the school academic calendar that will be implemented.

“The MoE has planned to start the academic calendar for the 2025 session in February 2025. Next, the academic calendar for the 2026 session can start in January 2026,” said the statement.

For the 2024/2025 session, the start of the school session is in March 2024, the 2025 session in February 2025 and the 2026 session in January 2026.

KPM always ensures that the well-being of all parties is given priority to achieve the wishes of Happy Students, Happy Teachers, Bitara Schools and a Prosperous Nation.
