Boat sank, fishermen feared drowned, two others safe

TELUK INTAN: A male fisherman in his 40s is feared to have drowned after the boat he was on sank in a river near Kampung Pasang Api, Hutan Melintang, early this morning.

According to Deputy Director of Operations of the Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad, they received a call regarding the incident at 1:12 am today.

He said that the boat was carrying three male fishermen, with two of them being rescued, while one is still missing.

“Upon arrival at the scene, a boat was found to have sunk in the river with three male fishermen involved.

“Two victims were successfully rescued by the public, while one is still missing,” he said in a statement here today

He added that the search for the missing victim this morning, using a boat along with the K9 Unit, began in the area of Kampung Pasang Api and headed towards Beting Beras Basah.

He further stated that the operation, led by Senior Fire Officer I, Khairul Izwan Yahaya, is still ongoing to this day.
