IPOH: The Perak State Assembly unanimously approved the Perak State Budget for 2024, totaling RM1.35 billion, during the State Legislative Assembly session here.

The proposal received support from all 53 Members of the State Assembly present.

Menteri Besar Perak, Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, concluded the final debate on the Perak State Budget 2024 before its approval.

He stated that the state government is making every effort to ensure that the budget for the upcoming year is responsive to economic uncertainties, including the scenario of rising living costs that daily impact the lives of the people.

“In addition to raising the current rate of assistance from the Department of Social Welfare (JKM) from RM300 to RM400, the amount of assistance for the Perak Prosperity Card, which was previously raised from RM80 to RM90, has been further increased to RM100.

“Similarly, the commitment to continue the State Government’s mobile shop initiative with an allocation of RM0.82 million is in place to ensure that economically disadvantaged people, including those in rural areas, can purchase necessities at lower prices.

“The Food Box Assistance Program, targeting food assistance to the B40, poor, hardcore poor, and disaster victims throughout the state of Perak, will also continue with an allocation of RM5.0 million,” he explained.

Furthermore, the state government allocated RM45.5 million to coordinate, improve, and streamline administrative management, including strengthening the government delivery system in all 59 constituencies of the Perak State Assembly.
