ACP Abang Zainal Abidin is new Ipoh OCPD

IPOH: The position of Ipoh District Police Chief (OCPD) is now led by Assistant Commissioner (ACP) Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad, who has taken over the responsibility from the previous holder, ACP Yahaya Hassan.

Yahaya handed over the position upon mandatory retirement; he had held the position since June 2021.

The handover ceremony for this task took place at the Senior Police Officer’s Mess in Perak, witnessed by the Chief of Police of Perak, Datuk Sri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri.

Abang Zainal Abidin, 56, previously served as the District Police Chief of Padawan, Sarawak before being promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP).

In his speech, Mohd Yusri said that he is confident that Abang Zainal is capable of shouldering the entrusted responsibilities with full commitment to ensure the safety and security of the city of Ipoh is always guaranteed.

A special gathering of the Ipoh District Police Chief was held in conjunction with Yahaya’s retirement.

A total of 370 police officers and personnel, including staff from the Ipoh District Police Headquarters and the media, attended this gathering.
