IPOH – It is forecasted that the average daily traffic volume on the West Coast Expressway (WCE) will reach 150,000 vehicles starting from April 6.

This prediction is due to the ‘Balik Kampung’ exodus in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

According to a statement by the Chief Executive Officer of WCE Highway, Lyndon Alfred Felix, various additional measures will be implemented to ensure smooth traffic flow.

“Construction and maintenance work involving lane closures on the highway until April 17 will not be carried out except for emergency works.

“Provision of tow trucks at several strategic locations, additional support staff, emergency response teams (ERT), and patrol officers will be intensified for emergency assistance.

“Facilities at rest areas such as toilets, prayer room, and additional kiosks at each toll plaza are also provided, including motorcycle shelter sheds,” he said.

He also informed the public that petrol stations are still not operational along the WCE Highway. Users are advised to refuel adequately before entering the highway.

“WCE is committed to ensuring the safety and comfort of road users. We hope all users will prioritize road safety as a shared commitment and responsibility,” he said.
