Continuing on the Yellow Brick Road

by KT Leong

Simon Lam, a professional nurse who specialises in the area of dementia for over 40 years as a clinician and was a previous director of an aged care consultancy, has returned to 1 Lasam to give a talk on part two of the Yellow Brick Road at the Dementia Café of Ipoh.

Like his previous visit, he elucidated clearly and candidly on the issues surrounding dementia, putting things in simple terms so that everyone could understand the crux of the matter.

In addition, Mr. Calvin Chong, who is a Teepa Snow certified trainer, was also on-hand to offer his insights.

The Dementia Café of Ipoh is a welcoming once-a-month meeting venue for anyone affected by dementia, be they people living with dementia, their families and friends, healthcare professionals or simply people who are interested in supporting a dementia inclusive community.

It is run by a local voluntary steering committee, BY and FOR people living with dementia and their care partners, families and the community. They are an associate member of the Irish Dementia Café Network, subscribing to the teaching of Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach to Care (PAC). All are welcome to attend.

Those interested can also join as members, which include life and corporate members. As life or corporate members, you would be making a long-term commitment towards supporting Dementia Café Ipoh Perak in an inclusive community and society.
