By Zaki Salleh

IPOH: The issue of flash floods faced by residents in villages within the Ipoh Timor Parliamentary constituency is being addressed to ensure that the disaster can be minimized.

Ipoh Timor Member of Parliament, Howard Lee, said his team is always attentive to this matter with the help of the Ipoh City Council, Kinta District and Land Office (PDT), as well as other government agencies.

He stated that among the projects that have been carried out is the construction of a drainage canal on Jalan Sri Kinta 7, costing RM200,000.

“Other works include the maintenance of earth drains and ditches, which were carried out last year.

“It is also continued this year to reduce flood incidents in areas identified as frequently affected by continuous heavy rainfall,” he added.

Howard also expressed his gratitude to all parties who assisted in coordinating aid for flood victims during the incident.

He had earlier attended the Flood Victim Aid Presentation Ceremony at the Sri Kinta Village Community Hall.

Also present was the State Assemblyman (ADUN) for Tebing Tinggi, Dr. Aziz Bari.

In last month’s flash flood, 34 houses were affected.

The affected homes were from Kg Sri Kinta, Kg Cempaka Sari, Kampung Pengkalan Pegoh, and Kg Kuala Pari.

The aid to flood victims was provided through the allocations of the Ipoh Timor Member of Parliament and the Tebing Tinggi ADUN.
