IPOH: Yesterday, 800 packs of bubur lambuk were distributed before 2 p.m. during the Bubur Lambuk Distribution Programme at Masjid Negeri Perak, Masjid Sultan Idris Shah II.
The programme, organised by Pantai Hospital Ipoh in collaboration with Masjid Negeri Perak, is being held in two sessions on March 6 and 13, 2025.
According to Pantai Hospital Ipoh’s Affiliate Management Executive, Nur Nazatul Syzna Mohamed Hatta, the first session was held in collaboration with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) Perak, while the upcoming session will involve Prudential BSN Takaful.
Speaking to Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic at the event, she said, this initiative not only promotes the act of giving during Ramadan but also supports the government’s efforts in environmental sustainability.
“Attendees were encouraged to bring their containers for the bubur lambuk. Those without containers could purchase them at the mosque,” she said.
The preparation of the porridge began at 7.30 am and was completed by 10.30 am, using 22kg of rice. This time, the mosque entrusted a chef from the State Council to prepare the dish using a special recipe.
Meanwhile, the Grand Imam of Masjid Negeri Perak, Abd Farid Salleh, said the bubur lambuk distribution programme takes place twice a week throughout Ramadan, on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
“We welcome contributions from individuals or companies who wish to sponsor bubur lambuk, regardless of the amount, to encourage the spirit of giving, which carries great rewards,” he said.
Besides bubur lambuk, the mosque also provides daily iftar and moreh for 300 people throughout Ramadan.
“To assist parents attending tarawih prayers, we have set up a ‘Kid Zone’ to ensure a more comfortable experience for them,” he added.
Additionally, the mosque hosts daily Zohor lectures to enrich religious knowledge among congregants.
