IPOH – Ipoh Mayor Dato’ Rumaizi Baharin has urged more organisations, including supermarkets and hotels, to step forward in hosting charity initiatives to support the underprivileged.

He said efforts such as those by Econsave and M Roof Hotel should serve as a model for others in running programmes that benefit those in need in Ipoh.

“I would like to express my appreciation to Econsave and M Roof Hotel for collaborating with the Ipoh City Council (MBI) in fulfilling their corporate social responsibility, particularly through the MBI Prihatin Programme.

“I also hope to see more non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and individuals coming forward to help those in need, not only orphans but also the asnaf community, especially during Ramadan.

“The assistance provided will certainly bring joy and ease their burdens as they prepare for Hari Raya Aidilfitri,” he said at a breaking-of-fast event with orphans at M Roof Hotel last night.

The event was jointly organised by MBI’s Strategic Communications Unit, M Roof Hotel, and Econsave to celebrate children from Pertubuhan Baitul Aini Anak-Anak Yatim dan Miskin Ipoh and Pertubuhan Kebajikan Cahaya Kasih, Kinta.

Also present were Econsave (Cash & Carry Sdn Bhd) Northern Region 3 Manager, Shah Effendy Rosman; Principal of Pertubuhan Pusat Jagaan Anak-Anak Yatim Al Yassin, Norizan Razali; and Chairperson and Founder of Pertubuhan Baitul Aini Anak-Anak Yatim dan Miskin Ipoh, Datin Noraini Abdullah.

As part of the initiative, the orphans were treated to a shopping trip at Econsave Klebang in the afternoon, where they selected new Raya outfits sponsored by Econsave.

Additionally, MBI contributed duit raya (festive allowances) to the children, while Econsave provided shopping vouchers to further support them.
