YMCA Ipoh Held Their 105th AGM

The Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) of Ipoh held its 105th Annual General Meeting (AGM) yesterday at the YMCA of Ipoh on Jalan Raja Musa Aziz.

Following an introductory speech by the president of YMCA Ipoh, Dato’ Daniel Tay Kwan Hui; the guest of honour, YB Dato’ Ngeh Koo Ham also gave a speech, expressing his support of YMCA Ipoh and all the good works that they do.

He spoke on the origins of the YMCA, which was founded in 1844, by George Williams, in order to meet the needs of the time. YB Dato’ Ngeh stated the importance of the spirit of volunteerism that this entailed, and how this spirit needs to persist.

When speaking to the press, he spoke on the importance of mental health in this day and age, and it was pointed out that YMCA had recently provided free dementia screening on Alzheimer’s Day as reported by Ipoh Echo, here.

YB Dato’ Ngeh brought up YMCA’s plan to convert up to two of their tennis courts into eight pickleball courts. Currently, YMCA Ipoh is still accumulating the funds to convert the first of these tennis courts into four pickleball courts.
