Rentas Perak 2025 Flags Off

by KT Leong

Rentas Perak 2025 flagged off today, after a quick briefing at Teluk Intan’s iconic Leaning Tower. Ipoh Echo is honoured to once again, follow along with the Rentas Perak 2025 crew, as they make an approximately 600 km endurance run from 24 to 26 April, where they will explore the beauty of Perak in their characterful classic cars.

From the Bufori Mk II that’s sure to turn heads, to the Jaguar XJ-S that’s sure to leave enthusiasts giddy with both joy and jealousy, the Rentas Perak 2025 crew are not just driving for a bit of indulgent joyriding. Instead, as with previous Rentas events, such as Rentas Pantai 2023, they are doing so to raise funds and awareness for the beautiful yet abandoned furry souls, left by the wayside.

This event, which was made possible through the support of Perak Classic Drivers and Practical Classic Drivers, is also done in fond memory of Dr. Ivor Thevathasan, a local motoring icon who passed away earlier in March of this year. He was the Past President of the Malaysia Singapore Vintage Car Register (MSVCR).

“Rentas Perak is more than just a gathering of classic cars; it’s an opportunity to celebrate automotive history while making a tangible difference in our community,” says Dr Haridev Menon, Founder of PCD, an informal automotive enthusiasts club that celebrates classic automotive heritage.

“We invite classic car owners who share our passion for driving and our compassion for animals to join us on this memorable journey through Perak. Together, we can explore the beauty of our state and provide much-needed support to the furry friends at PapanSouls. We are also extremely grateful to our sponsors BHP and X1R for their generous contributions in ensuring the success of this fundraiser.”
