By Julian Matthews
I am not the one
Just a man without a plan on the run
What use is a loaded gun without a target?
What use are these words if not transmitted?
“You are not a killer dishing out space-fillers
Aerials do not discern their receivers
You do not set out to be a deceiver, or slayer
or convert unseen, non-believers
“Your messages are neural, not neutral
They are sporal, not spiritual
They seed, not ritualise
They germinate, not victimise
“You are a stimulus, not a simulator
You’re not a clone, but a klondiker
A prospector of solitary penning
A searcher of nuggets of meaning
“You are driven, not the passenger
You are the massage, not the masseur
You are the line-hooker, not the man-fisher
You are the messenger, not the messiah.”
I am a blank, not the gun
I am a shoot, not the shooter
I am a shimmer, not the sun
I am a seed, not the forsaker
I am the broken, not the broker
I am the seeker, not the maker
I am the rain-forager, not the storm-bringer
I am just a messenger, not the sender
