IPOH, June 13 – Ipoh Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah has emphasised the need to strengthen the enforcement and safety functions of the Ipoh City Council (MBI) to ensure that laws are implemented in a transparent, fair and ethical manner.

He said reinforcing the department’s role is vital in efforts to make Ipoh a smart and prosperous city that is safe and orderly for all residents.

“MBI must continue to work together towards achieving this vision. I also hope that visits like this will inspire new motivation among the department’s staff,” he said during a working visit to MBI’s Enforcement and Safety Department at Jalan Bandar yesterday.

The visit aimed to observe the department’s daily operations and gain deeper insight into the challenges faced in carrying out enforcement and city safety duties.

Zamakhshari was briefed by the department’s Assistant Director, Muhamad Zul Hazmi Sham, and Assistant Head of Enforcement, Muhammad Nadzir Rosli. The briefing covered enforcement operations, including monitoring compliance with local bylaws, managing public complaints, and the role of MBI safety personnel.

He was also informed about the Skuad Ihsan Madani, a special response team under MBI that provides post-disaster assistance within the city.

The mayor later toured the department’s facilities. He took time to meet with officers, staff and security personnel as a gesture of appreciation for their ongoing commitment to public safety and urban well-being.
