IPOH: The bridge near the entrance to Kampung Sungai Tapah, Manjoi, needs urgent repairs due to its severely deteriorated condition, which poses a danger to road users.
Manjoi State Assemblyman (Adun), Hafez Sabri, said this follows a recent incident where a car skidded and plunged into the river at the location, damaging the bridge’s guardrail.
“The guardrail is now damaged and needs immediate repairs to ensure public safety. We understand that repairs will be carried out soon.
“We urge the relevant authorities and agencies to reinstall the guardrail on this bridge as soon as possible. It is a vital route for residents of Manjoi, Jelapang, and the surrounding areas.
“If a vehicle is speeding and doesn’t notice the bridge at night, it could easily plunge into the river. So I advise the public to be extra cautious,” he said.
In a separate development, Hafez also reported that repairs for the Kampung Dato Ahmad Said Tambahan 3 (KDAS 3) Bridge will begin soon.
He said the bridge connects KDAS 3 to Taman Wing Onn and serves as an important route for residents in the area.
“I, along with representatives from the Ipoh City Council and local residents, visited the bridge.
“I found that the bridge has several safety issues, including damaged and worn-out guardrails,” he said.
