IPOH: Perak has made significant headway under its Perak Sejahtera 2030 plan, with 108 out of 272 projects and initiatives successfully completed within three years of the plan’s launch on June 15, 2022, to revive the state’s socio-economic landscape in the aftermath of the pandemic.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said another 128 projects are currently being implemented, while 36 more are in the pre-implementation phase.
Additionally, the state government has identified 127 new projects to be included in the Perak Sejahtera 2030 Dashboard for monitoring purposes.
“Several economic indicators also show that Perak is recovering well from the impact of COVID-19, having recorded a budget surplus for three consecutive years after facing a deficit of nearly RM70 million in 2020,” he said in a media statement on Tuesday.
He noted that the state’s unemployment rate continued to decline to 3.9% in 2024 compared to 4.7% in 2021, while the labour force participation rate rose to 65.8% last year.
“With a stronger financial position and positive growth momentum, the state government has been able to allocate more resources for public welfare, including increasing aid for those in need,” he added.
Saarani attributed these achievements to the spirit of unity and the strength of the state administrative machinery, which he said works as a team alongside the close cooperation established with the Federal Government.
“As we enter the fourth year of implementation, the state government will further intensify efforts to drive five economic growth nodes and explore new sectors such as the Blue Economy, Green Economy, and Care Economy,” he said.
