Make cleanliness our shared responsibility

TAIPING: It is everyone’s responsibility to eliminate illegal dumping sites.

The Anti-Illegal Waste Campaign is one of the initiatives under Local Agenda 21, aimed at forming partnerships between local authorities (PBT), the community, and the private sector.

This was demonstrated by the Taiping Municipal Council (MPT) during the Perak Clean & Healthy (Perak BEST) 2.0 program.

This targeted program, focused on fighting illegal dumping in Taman Mas, was carried out in collaboration with the Perak State Secretary’s Office and the MPT Zone 17 Residents’ Committee (JKP).

The objective is to encourage all parties to work together in planning and managing the environment towards sustainable development and a higher quality of life.

Among the activities carried out was plogging (jogging while collecting litter), aimed at keeping the surroundings clean and healthy.

In a statement, MPT affirmed its strong commitment to closing and reducing “hot spot” areas or illegal dumping sites around Taiping.

“MPT urges everyone to work together in the fight against illegal dumping and to stop indiscriminate littering.

“Practice proper waste management and ensure rubbish bins are provided with adequate capacity,” the statement said.

Residents are also reminded to stay informed about the waste collection schedule carried out by contractors three times a week from house to house.
