Held on campus at QIU’s “The Curve” facility, this programme is part of QIU’s ongoing efforts to raise public awareness on issues related to cyberbullying, cybersecurity, and safe digital practices, in line with the University’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions).

The dialogue will feature invited panellists from diverse professional backgrounds who will deliberate on the challenges and solutions in creating a safer, more ethical, and inclusive cyberspace.

  • The panellists include YB Tuan Tan Kar Hing, Member of Parliament for Gopeng, who will share insights on policy perspectives and the role of legislation in addressing online threats.  Also joining the panel is Dr Vinogiri Krishnan, a public health and mental health researcher as well as an epidemiologist, who will discuss the impact of cyberbullying on mental well-being and public health. The dialogue session will be moderated by Mr Muhammad Amirul Faiz, Senior Lecturer from the Faculty of Social Sciences, QIU.

Key discussion areas include:

  • Cybersecurity threats and online vulnerabilities
  • Safe digital practices for secure communication and data protection
  • The impact of cyberbullying on individuals and society
  • The role of education, policy, and digital literacy in building a safer cyberspace

The programme is open to the public and involves members of the QIU community, industry practitioners, and the general public. Participants will also receive an e-certificate of participation.

The dialogue is expected to serve as an interactive platform that not only enhances understanding of digital safety but also encourages critical discussions and knowledge-sharing among experts and participants towards building a more responsible and resilient digital ecosystem.
