Sunken Road Surface Poses Danger at Jalan Panglima Bukit Gantang Wahab

IPOH: The condition of the road surface paved with interlocking blocks, which has sunk and become uneven along Jalan Panglima Bukit Gantang Wahab here, is raising concerns among road users, especially motorcyclists.

A survey found that several metres of the busy main road have been damaged as the interlocking blocks continue to sink, causing the road surface to become uneven and potentially dangerous to motorists.

Road user Mohd Azman Ali, 35, said he uses the route daily to commute to work and hopes the authorities will take immediate action to repair the damaged section.

According to him, the uneven road surface not only disrupts smooth driving but could also cause damage to vehicles.

“This is a busy main road, and the sunken interlocking blocks are indeed dangerous, especially for motorcyclists.

“During heavy rain, water will also accumulate, and road users may not be able to see the damaged surface,” he told Ipoh Echo and Peraktastic.

He hopes maintenance work can be carried out immediately to ensure the safety of all road users and prevent the damage from worsening further.
