PCSH Shows Compassion; Engages Community Through Free Influenza Vaccination Programme

By Rosli Mansor Ahmad Razali

IPOH: The recent distribution of 200 free influenza vaccine doses by Perak Community Specialist Hospital (PCSH) reflects the hospital’s strong commitment to community well-being, particularly among the B40 group.

Held at the Ipoh Convention Centre, the initiative served as an important platform for PCSH to reach out directly to the public through a preventive healthcare approach.

The provision of free influenza vaccines for the B40 group demonstrates that healthcare is not solely focused on hospital treatment, but also encompasses social responsibility in protecting the community from the risk of infectious diseases.

In this context, PCSH’s role through its Welfare Fund and tax-exempt status has been effectively utilised to extend benefits to the wider community.

More significantly, the programme also included free health screenings for visitors. This approach not only helps individuals better understand their health status but also enables early intervention should any risk factors be identified.

Beyond clinical services, the programme also emphasised health education through a sharing session by PCSH Medical Specialist, Dr Kaw Han Chung, during the “Sembang Medik” podcast titled “Obesity. Fit for Life!”.

The discussion on healthy lifestyles, balanced nutrition, and weight management is highly relevant in addressing the rising prevalence of non-communicable diseases in society today.

The collaboration between PCSH and local authorities also deserves commendation, as it highlights the importance of a holistic and integrated approach in strengthening public health awareness.

The programme, held in conjunction with the 38th Anniversary Celebration of Ipoh City, reflects PCSH’s commitment to corporate social responsibility as well as the role of private healthcare institutions in enhancing public health awareness.

Such initiatives, which focus on prevention, education, and community engagement, should be continued and expanded to more areas in the future.
