IPOH: The overgrown weeds on a private lot at Lorong 8 Tambahan Baru, Jelapang, which had previously drawn complaints from residents, have yet to be cleared by the landowner despite a notice issued by the Ipoh City Council (MBI).
Local residents said no action has been taken so far by either the landowner or the relevant party, raising concerns over safety in the surrounding residential area.

According to them, MBI had earlier stated that if the notice recipient (OKN) fails to comply within the stipulated timeframe after receiving the notice, the council will proceed with clearance works through its appointed contractor.
Residents also urged the authorities to intervene promptly, as the overgrown lot poses a risk of becoming a breeding ground for venomous animals such as snakes, which have reportedly entered nearby homes.

Previously, MBI issued a Nuisance Abatement Notice under Section 82 of the Local Government Act 1976 following complaints from residents regarding disturbances caused by the overgrown and unattended land.
MBI said the notice was issued on May 11, adding that if the landowner fails to comply within the given period, clearance works will be carried out by the council’s contractor, with all costs charged to the assessment account of the notice recipient.
However, the authorities also stated that a representative of the landowner had been contacted and had been informed that the lot would be cleared within one week.
As of now, residents are still waiting for follow-up action to ensure the issue is resolved.
