IPOH: A total of RM2.7 million has been allocated for a two-kilometre road resurfacing and upgrading project along Jalan Lahat to improve public convenience.
According to Buntong State Assemblyman Thulsi Manogaran, she had campaigned for the road issue for three consecutive years during the Perak State Legislative Assembly sittings.
She explained that Jalan Lahat serves as a primary route connecting Buntong, Menglembu, and Tebing Tinggi, and is heavily utilised daily by Ipoh motorists, including heavy vehicles.

Consequently, this continuous stress on the road structure has caused significant damage.
“I wish to inform the public, particularly Ipoh road users, that the resurfacing project and related works on Jalan Lahat have been approved by the state government through the 2026 Non-Concession MARRIS Allocation to MBI (Ipoh City Council).
“The project will be executed by the Ipoh City Council as the implementing agency, and is currently in the tendering phase.
“Physical works are expected to commence this July, subject to the approval and completion of the designated procurement process.
“I raised the issue of Jalan Lahat during the Third Meeting of the Third Year of the 15th State Assembly.
“I have debated this matter for three consecutive years. Councillor Sivam Kalimuthu has also been tasked with managing this issue at the Ipoh City Council level,” she said.
Thulsi added that the Buntong DAP Constituency Service Centre frequently receives numerous complaints and feedback from local residents, as well as through official channels, regarding the deteriorating and hazardous condition of Jalan Lahat.
“All these complaints have been brought to the attention of the local authority for further action.
“My team at the Buntong DAP service centre and I will continue to monitor the progress of this project alongside MBI to ensure it is executed properly and remains on schedule,” she said.
