IPOH: A plastic factory in Bercham was badly damaged in a fire on Monday afternoon, with a 42-year-old man suffering burn injuries.
The fire broke out at about 3.36pm, prompting the deployment of more than 100 firefighters and members of the Volunteer Fire Brigade (PBS) to contain the blaze.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant director of operations Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said firefighters found a Class B plastic factory measuring 30m by 13m, with about 50 percent of the premises engulfed in flames upon arrival.
“One victim suffered burns and received initial treatment from Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) personnel.
“The fire involved nine factory lots, each with five different owners,” he said.
He said the operation commander conducted an initial assessment and applied the Rescue, Exposure, Confinement, Extinguishment and Overhaul (RECEO) concept before firefighters began extinguishing the blaze using water from fire engine tanks and nearby hydrants.
The fire was successfully brought under control before the operation was fully concluded at 3.11am on Tuesday.
A total of 50 firefighters and 59 PBS members from fire stations in Ipoh, Tambun, Simpang Pulai, Meru Raya, Pasir Puteh, Menglembu, Pekan Baru, Pusing, Kampar, Teluk Intan, Pasir Pinji and Chemor took part in the operation.
