Kinder Labz Ipoh Stages “Trolls: Search for Happy” Concert for 147 Students Across Two Branches

More than 300 parents and siblings turned out to watch a cast of student performers, aged three and up, tell the story of finding happiness through progress, not perfection

IPOH, 25 July 2026 — It was a big day for Kinder Labz Ipoh. Hours after collecting Parenthood Magazine’s Best Childhood Programme (Boutique) award for the third year running at the Parents’ Choice Awards, the school brought Trolls: Search for Happy to life on stage this evening, as 147 students from its Jalan Woodward and Bandar Baru Sri Klebang branches took part in a full concert production at Wisma Chin Woo. The performance drew an audience of more than 300 parents and siblings and was delivered by a production team of 40 Kinder Labz staff after weeks of rehearsal.

The concert followed the story of Poppy, Branch and their fellow trolls across four scenes, from the Sad Village where the trolls lose their happy, through a march to the Golden Cave, to a Grand Finale built around the show’s closing message: that happiness is not something you find, it is something you carry. The cast spanned every level at Kinder Labz, from its youngest three-year-old Potted Flowers to its four-year-old Rainbows, its five-and-up Glitter Crew and its senior-level Helpers, each with its own costume and choreography built around the production’s signature troll hair and glitter. The show’s four leads were played by Ms Clemence Than as Poppy, Master Marcus Lau as Branch, Ms Noelle Liew as Twinkle and Master Dakkshantt Rao as Dazzle, with the story narrated live by Ms Gammai and the script written by Dr Evelyn Chen, Director of Schools.

“Welcome to our search for Happy,” Dr Chen told the audience in her opening remarks. “In a fast-paced world filled with societal expectations; dictating how we look, speak and act, it is easy to lose sight of true happiness. As the Roman philosopher Cicero wisely noted, gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all others. When we anchor ourselves in gratitude for the basics, food on our table, good health and a roof over our heads- happiness inevitably follows.”

She then handed the stage to the children. “Our children will now take the stage and educate us in glitters, songs and cuteness overload,” she told the audience. “Let’s go find Happy.” The concert concluded at 8.30pm.

The win extends a streak that began in 2024, the same year Kinder Labz was named Elite Winner in the Best Preschool of the Year category at the PEEAM EduAwards. Founded in 2019 at Jalan Woodward, Ipoh, Kinder Labz has since grown to three branches, and says it plans to bring more full-scale student productions to its calendar in the years ahead.
