IPOH: As a symbol of support for World Breastfeeding Week 2026, celebrated globally, the Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun (HRPB) has illuminated its Women, Children and Cardiology Building (KWKK) in golden light.

The initiative aims to raise public awareness of the importance of breastfeeding while recognising the sacrifices mothers make to provide the best possible nutrition for their children from birth.

According to HRPB, every drop of breast milk is more than just nourishment – it is regarded as “liquid gold”, providing babies with optimal nutrition, immune protection and the care they need for a healthy start in life.

The hospital said breastfeeding should not be seen as a mother’s responsibility alone but as a shared journey that requires the support of partners, family members, colleagues and the wider community.

“Behind every breastfeeding journey lies patience, sacrifice and unconditional love. Every mother deserves encouragement and support in giving her child the best possible start in life.

“As a Baby-Friendly Hospital, HRPB remains committed to supporting mothers throughout their breastfeeding journey. We believe that with continuous support, every mother can breastfeed with greater confidence and fulfilment,” the statement said.

In conjunction with the celebration, HRPB’s World Breastfeeding Week Committee will hold the official launch of World Breastfeeding Week 2026 on Aug 11, from 7 am to 3 pm, at the RMC Concourse on Level 4 of the Women, Children and Cardiology Building (KWKK).

The event is expected to bring together HRPB staff to reaffirm the hospital’s commitment to promoting breastfeeding and increasing public awareness of its health benefits for both mothers and babies.

HRPB also encouraged members of the public to express their appreciation for breastfeeding mothers by leaving messages of encouragement, prayers and words of support.

“Behind every healthy child is the unwavering love and sacrifice of a mother,” the statement added.
