IPOH: Persiaran Bandaraya here will be fully closed to all vehicles for four days from today to make way for preparations for the Merdeka Fun Ride 2026 (MFR2026).
The temporary closure will be in effect from August 27 to 30 in conjunction with the National Day celebration.
The cycling event, organised by the Ipoh City Council (MBI), is scheduled to take place on August 29 at 8 pm at Persiaran Bandaraya.
During the closure, access to the MBI headquarters will be through the entrance opposite Ipoh Parade.
The exit route will be through the exit opposite Ipoh Convention Centre (ICC).
MBI advised members of the public and road users to plan their journeys and use alternative routes during the closure.
They are also urged to comply with traffic directions and controls imposed in the affected area.
MBI apologised for any inconvenience caused by the temporary road closure.
The council also thanked the public for their cooperation and patience in ensuring the preparations and event could be carried out safely and smoothly.
The Merdeka Fun Ride 2026 is also aimed at fostering and strengthening the spirit of patriotism in conjunction with the 2026 National Day celebrations.
