IPOH: Complaints by residents about a pack of stray dogs roaming around RPT 10 Ulu Chepor, Chemor, have prompted the Ipoh City Council (MBI) to conduct a capture operation in the area on Thursday.
The operation followed reports about the issue carried on social media as well as the Peraktastic and Ipoh Echo portals on September 21.
According to MBI, two stray dogs were successfully captured during the operation conducted around RPT 10 Ulu Chepor.
However, several other dogs fled into a nearby forested area.
MBI also said follow-up operations would be carried out from time to time to address the stray dog problem in the area.
The issue had earlier drawn the attention of Manjoi assemblyman Hafez Sabri, who discussed the matter with MBI and efforts to address the problem.
A resident thanked Hafez and MBI for taking action after residents’ complaints were brought to their attention.
“We hope MBI will continue conducting regular patrols to capture more stray dogs that roam around in packs.
“We hope the problem can be resolved to safeguard the environment and the well-being of residents,” the resident said.
Residents also hope the follow-up operations will continue until the problem of stray dogs roaming around the residential area is effectively addressed.
