Overflowing drains send floodwater into homes through toilet holes

IPOH: Residents of Kampung Hijrah, RPT Batu 10 Ulu Chepor, face recurring floods during heavy rain, with overflowing drains and Keladi River (Sungai Keladi) causing floodwater to enter their homes through toilet holes.

The latest incident occurred yesterday afternoon, affecting Jalan Chepor Indah 4 and Jalan Chepor Indah 6, and raising residents’ concerns about repeated flooding.

A resident said the problem occurred when drains in the housing area became overwhelmed with water, while Sungai Keladi also overflowed during heavy rain.

“Water from the existing housing area cannot flow smoothly, resulting in flooding in the surrounding area.

“More worryingly, floodwater enters affected residents’ homes through toilet holes,” the resident said.

The resident claimed the problem stemmed from the drainage system at the end of a nearby housing development project, where only earth drains had been constructed.

The resident appealed to Manjoi assemblyman Hafez Sabri to refer the matter to the relevant authorities responsible for approving the housing development plan.

Residents hope appropriate action will be taken to ensure the drainage system functions effectively and prevent the flooding problem from recurring.
