POP Travels: Cer Citer Makes Tourism Promotion Merrier During MCO

The POP Travels: Cer Citer digital storytelling competition has opened up more opportunities for tour guides to further promote local tourism products in the duration of the Movement Control Order (MCO).

According to Perak Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, the competition focuses on technical and vocational education and training (TVET) and video production to promote Perak in a more creative manner.

“The programme, a joint effort between Tourism Perak, Digital Perak, TVET Committee and Perak Tourist Guides Association (PkTGA), is open to all licensed Perakean guides. They may register at Tourism Perak’s Facebook page between June 4 to 15,” he told reporters in a media session after the launch gimmick of the competition yesterday on June 3.

“The competition centres on merging folk stories which include tourism destinations,” Faizal added. “Out of 570 tour guides, 200 are from Perak.”

Guest of honour was Executive Councillor for Housing, Local Government and Tourism, Dato’ Nolee Ashilin Mohamed Radzi.

Faizal mentioned that the competition targets 100 participants for Phase 1. Participants will then be required to attend online masterclass, consultation and service advisory, with access to relevant information and videos.

“Videos will be evaluated for a week,” he said. “Winner will receive a cash award of RM3,000 while RM500 will be presented to 10 participants as consolation prizes. They will all qualify to join promotion and marketing programmes.”

Meanwhile, despite the MCO, Tourism Perak continued their digital promotion programmes.

Readers and the public may take part in their efforts by using hashtags #TravelPerakLah, #PerakSupportPerak and #Perakians4Perak in their social media posts. Doing so will earn a chance to enjoy travel vouchers worth RM50 which is redeemable until December 31 this year.
