IPOH: Genuine commitment from all sectors is essential in ensuring environmental sustainability for future generations.
This was exemplified at the Lestari Alam Earth Day 2025 celebration programme, held at Eco Park 1 in Bandar Seri Botani here.
The initiative was spearheaded by property developer Pinji Botanics Sdn Bhd, in collaboration with the Institute of Landscape Architects Malaysia (ILAM), with logistical support from the Ipoh City Council (MBI).
The collaborative effort aimed to strengthen local community awareness of the importance of environmental preservation and sustainable practices in daily life.

One of the programme’s highlights was the presentation of prizes for a bamboo sculpture competition, which celebrated the creativity and innovation of participants from higher learning institutions in producing eco-themed artworks using natural materials.
A symbolic tree-planting ceremony also took place, involving guests and participants, as a gesture of commitment towards Earth restoration and a shared responsibility to protect the ecosystem.
The act of planting shade trees represented aspirations to create greener, healthier and more liveable urban spaces for future generations.
Lestari Alam Earth Day 2025 also served as a platform to strengthen collaboration between the public and private sectors, alongside community stakeholders, in advancing the sustainable development agenda within Ipoh City.
It is hoped that such ongoing efforts will nurture a culture of environmental appreciation and raise greater awareness across local communities.
The closing ceremony was officiated by Deputy Secretary-General (Management) of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES), Norsham Abdul Latip.
