IPOH: Residents of Persiaran Cempaka Sari 24 in Taman Cempaka here have urged the authorities, including elected representatives, to resolve an issue involving foul odours and potential health risks caused by an elderly woman who repeatedly collects items and rubbish outside his home.
A complainant, who identified himself as Ahmad, said the problem had recurred and that the Ipoh City Council (MBI) had previously taken action, but the elderly woman appeared undeterred.

The woman’s house is located at No. 56, Persiaran Cempaka Sari 24, where she is said to go out daily to collect plastic, cardboard boxes, polystyrene, plastic containers, glass bottles and plastic bottles, not for resale.
“Complaints regarding this hoarding issue, involving an elderly woman who continues to collect rubbish and disturb the peace of residents here, have yet to receive any further action from MBI.
“Although the area around her house was cleaned previously, she has returned to the same habit. The rubbish has accumulated again, and to date no action has been taken by the authorities.
“We urge councillors or elected representatives to take this matter more seriously, as it involves public health. The foul smell here could have various implications for residents.

“Taman Cempaka was once a dengue hotspot, and many residents are worried. We hope the authorities will take firmer action to prevent him from repeating the behaviour.
“If possible, the authorities or the Social Welfare Department (JKM) should also assess the elderly woman’s mental health and determine whether she requires appropriate intervention,” he said.
Ahmad further claimed that there had recently been an increase in mosquitoes in the neighbourhood, warning that failure to take immediate action could lead to the spread of more diseases.
