Ipoh Parade was pulsing with energy last Sunday afternoon as K-pop fever took center stage during the Kpop Dance Cover Competition Ipoh Parade Qualifier. The event, which is part of the ongoing Ipoh Parade K-Street Carnival, saw a fierce yet fun showdown among passionate dance crews vying for a spot in the Grand Finals at Klang Parade on 29 June 2025.
Six teams emerged victorious, with four from Kuala Lumpur and two from Ipoh, earning their golden ticket to the finals. Emerging as the Champion was DR1P from DRP Family Dance Studio, Setapak, Kuala Lumpur. Their all-male crew captivated both judges and audience with a charismatic and technically refined performance of P1Harmony’s “Killin’ It”. Having previously missed the cut at CITTA Mall’s qualifier, the team reworked their choreography and delivered a winning routine this round, taking home RM1,500 worth of cash and prizes.
Ipoh’s very own Dimenxion, a massive 18-member crew, secured a consolation prize with their creative and energetic take on Kep1er’s “The Girls (Can’t Turn Me Down)”. Also representing Ipoh was X.Sense from X.enia Dance Area, whose debut performance covering Lapillus’ “Who’s Next” earned them a place among the top six and RM300 worth of prizes.
Among the crowd favourites was Post’10, a group of talented young dancers aged 9 to 12 from Cameron Highlands. Their cover of STAYC’s Bubble may not have secured them a win, but their infectious charm captured the audience’s hearts and drew enthusiastic applause.
The competition concluded with a high-energy Kpop Random Dance Challenge, where members of the public took over the dance floor, moving freely to K-pop hits spun by the event’s deejay, creating an atmosphere of joy and unity.
“We are glad to have provided a fun and engaging time for our shoppers and participants of the event, which is part of a larger event; the Ipoh Parade K-Street Carnival,” said Lim Huey Tyng, Manager of the Advertising and Promotions Department at Ipoh Parade. “We would also like to express our sincere thanks to our sponsors and supporting tenants for their invaluable contributions in making this event a success.”
Sponsors and Supporting Tenants were SaSa, Cyber Colors, Johnson Fitness & Wellness, Montigo, ITSU, DRUM, My Home One, Marrybrown, Focus Point, A&W, Zus Coffee, Starbucks, Molly Fantasy, K Box Karaoke, and MIXUE.
