IPOH: A total of eight people, including a patient, were trapped in an elevator at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) here on Thursday evening.


According to a Facebook post by the Ipoh Fire Station, they received an emergency call regarding the incident at 5:56 PM.
“Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters found eight people trapped inside the elevator, including a 57-year-old patient receiving treatment.
“Firefighters used special equipment such as an airbag and hydraulic ram to open the elevator door,” the post said.
The department also advised the public to contact the direct emergency line of the fire station in their respective areas for faster response.

Meanwhile, most netizens in the comment section expressed the opinion that the hospital elevators are outdated and urgently need upgrading for the convenience of the public, especially patients.
“I don’t even know what to say, but the elevator at HRPB is really in bad shape. Even when the doors close, it makes such a loud noise,” said one netizen.
“HRPB’s elevators are really old — and it’s not just the parking. The hospital facilities themselves are disappointing, especially the elevators. Their condition is really disheartening,” another user added.
